Day 1: Bogota - Girardot
5 hours of riding time - 173km/107 miles -all paved
  • We start the adventure with a day full of beautiful paved curves through the mountains
  • Take a swim in a cave in the middle of the jungle
  • Hike up to a waterfall surrounded by wild parrots
  • Spend the night in Girardot
Day 2: Girardot - Murillo
3 hours of riding time - 171km/106 miles -all paved
  • Visit the Amero Tragedy and learn about the tragic history of the worst natural disaster in Colombia
  • Make your way into the Coffee Axis as we head to the outskirts of Nevado del Ruiz National Park
  • Check into the hostel then explore the region next to the most active volcano in South America
Day 3: Murillo - Salamina
6 hours of riding time - 212km/131 miles -all paved
  • Spend the morning riding through Nevado del Ruiz National Park on arguably the most beautiful road in Colombia
  • Make your way deeper into the Coffee Axis to spend the night in a traditional Coffee town
  • Visit “La Samaria” our favorite wax palm forest in Colombia
Day 4: Salamina - Medellin
4 hours of riding time - 187km/116 miles - 5% unpaved
  • Make your way to Medellin today where we will stay in El Poblado for 2 nights
  • Cross the Viaducto de Amaga, an abandoned railroad and one the craziest places to drive a moto in the country
  • Dinner at one of the best restaurants in Medellin
Day 5: Medellin (Free Day)
No riding today
  • Medellin has a ton to offer and everyone wants to explore it in their own way. So today you are free to explore Medellin as you’d like. Sleep in if you care or head to Comuna 13, Parque Arvi or Botero Plaza. There’s plenty of options for whatever you want! (If you want to kick it with your guide you can as well!)
  • Please note: this is one of 2 days without a set itinerary. So you are free to do as you want, eat wherever you want and visit any attractions you care to visit. As such, on day 5 you will be responsible for your own meals, admission to attractions, etc..
Day 6: Medellin - Necocli
6 hours and 45 minutes of riding time - 367km/228 miles - all paved
  • This day is undeniably the longest day of riding time but for good reason today we will reach the Caribbean Coast!
  • Enjoy the beach in the Afro-Colombian part of the Caribbean coast rarely visited by travelers
  • Spend the night at Makai Beach Hostel
Day 7: Necocli - Rincon del Mar
5 hours of riding time - 289km/179 miles - all paved
  • Ride up the coast to Rincon del Mar one of our favorite beach towns on the coast
  • Spend the afternoon playing beach volleyball and lounging around
  • Head out on a boat tour just before sunset to view and swim in bioluminescent plankton
Day 8: Rincon del Mar - Cartagena
2 hours and 10 of riding time - 120km/74 miles - all paved
  • Spend the morning lounging on the beach and working on your sunburn
  • Ride out up the coast to Cartagena
  • Explore the walled city of Cartagena
Day 9: Cartagena (Free Day)
No riding today
  • There’s a reason that Cartagena is the most visited city in Colombia not just by international travelers but Colombians as well. Just like Medellin it has a ton to offer and everyone wants to explore it in their own way. So today you are free to explore Cartagena as you’d like. Take a boat out to the many islands with white sand beaches, tour the castle San Felipe, visit Mercado de Bazurto for a real authentic experience. There’s plenty of options for whatever you want! (If you want to kick it with your guide you can as well!)
  • Please note: this is one of 2 days without a set itinerary. So you are free to do as you want, eat wherever you want and visit any attractions you care to visit. As such, on day 9 you will be responsible for your own meals, admission to attractions, etc..
Day 10: Cartagena - Minca
4 hours and 45 minutes of riding time - 245km/152 miles -all paved
  • Today we head further up the Caribbean Coast to one of our favorite mountain towns in Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta
  • Stop in Baranquilla the home of Shakira for lunch
  • Enjoy the heated infinity pool at Casas Viejas perched in the mountains high above Santa Marta
Day 11: Minca - Rio Buritaca
2 hours and 15 minutes of riding time - 68km/42 miles -mix of paved and unpaved
  • Detour to see Piedra de Donama, a rock that was carved by the Pre Columbian indigenous living in the area
  • Grab a beer in La Lisa, a tiny town in the Sierra Nevada mountains
  • All you can drink river tubing in the jungle on the Buritaca River
  • Stay at El Rio Hostel voted the best hostel in Colombia and the #2 hostel in all of South America
Day 12: Rio Buritaca - Costeno Beach
25 minutes of riding time - 14km/9 miles -all paved
  • Take a short motorcycle ride to the beach
  • Chill in hammocks, hang out in the pool or play some beach volleyball by the Caribbean Sea
  • Massage in the afternoon
  • Stay at Costeno Beach Hostel our favorite beach hostel in Colombia
Day 13: Costeno Beach - Cabo de la Vela
5 hours and 30 minutes of riding time - 287km/178 miles - 5% unpaved
  • Make our way to the Guajira Desert one of our favorite places to ride motorcycles in Colombia
  • Stop at Santuario do Fauna y Flora Los Flamencos to view wild flamingos (seasonal)
  • Local seafood lunch on the beach in Manuare
  • Off-roading along the beach on the Caribbean Sea
  • Stay at Guajira Kite Surfing School, a meca for kite surfers! Don't expect hot showers but instead using a bucket to wash off.
Day 14: Cabo de la Vela
All unpaved through the Guajira Desert
  • Our favorite day of the tour! Off-roading with a local guide through the desert
  • Sand dunes, beaches and much more!
  • Spend the afternoon sipping on cocktails and watching kite-surfers
Day 15: Cabo de la Vela - Valledupar
5 hours and 30 minutes of riding time - 305km/189 miles - all paved
  • Today we are leaving the Caribbean Coast and heading to Valledupar the cradle of vallenato music
  • Beautiful swimming holes outside of Valledupar
  • Fine dining for dinner at Varadero before after roughing it in the desert
  • Stay at Hotel Campestre Villa Ocha a resort style hotel in Valledupar
Day 16: Valledupar - Aguachica
5 hours of riding time - 279km/168 miles -mix of paved and unpaved
  • We’re not going to sugar coat Day 16 it is really all about mobbing on the motorcycles and putting distance towards the East Andes Mountains
  • Stay in Aguachica a rarely visited town that is a perfect distance between Valledupar and San Gil
Day 17: Aguachica - San Gil
6 hours and 20 minutes of riding time - 267km/165 miles -all paved
  • Another long day of riding as we head to San Gil, the adventure capital of Colombia
  • Eat cabrito in Bucaramanga a very local delicious goat dish
  • All the curves you can imagine and stunning views as we ride through Chicamocha Canyon the second largest canyon world-wide
  • Stay 2 nights at Macondo Hostel in San Gil
Day 18: San Gil
3 hours and 20 minutes of riding time - 98km/61 miles -20% unpaved
  • Head to Chicamocha Canyon for paragliding over the “Grand Canyon” of Colombian
  • Off-road through the canyon on one of our favorite unpaved roads in the country
  • Take a dip in the jungle at a waterfall that flows into the canyon
  • Head back to San Gil to eat at Gringo Mike’s
Day 19: San Gil - Bosques de Pandora
4 hours of riding time - 177km/109 miles -20% unpaved
  • Ride down to El Penon home to Bosques de Pandora
  • Hke in one of the most surreal forrest we’ve ever visited anywhere in the world
  • Spend the night at a Ecohotel deep in the mountains
Day 20: Bosques de Pandora - Villa de Leyva
4 hours of riding time - 134km/83 miles -20% unpaved
  • Mob over to Villa de Leyva home to one of the largest main squares in America
  • Offroad to a waterfall and cave
  • Spend the night exploring this historic town
Day 21: Villa de Leyva - Bogota
4 hours of riding time - 187km/116 miles - all unpaved
  • We're heading back to Bogota for the final day of the tour
  • Stop at La Calera overlooking Bogota before finishing up the trip

On this tour you will visit some areas that are very remote. As such, some of the accommodations are very basic. We want our tours to be as affordable as possible while still staying at the best places in Colombia. Most hostels/hotels have the option to upgrade to a private room so let us know if that is something you are interested in!
